Inspiration. It is all around us. Inspiration can come from anything. It is a personal journey that we embark upon, daily, of our ever changing charted course of life. Life is indeed about creating ourselves.

Inspiration refers to an “Unconscious burst of creativity in a literary, musical, or other artistic endeavour”. Inspiration has been considered a divine matter throughout history. In the early 20th century, neurologist Sigmund Freud located inspiration in the inner psyche of the artist. In modern psychology, inspiration is seen as an internal process. Either way, inspiration matters! Inspiration is powerful and should not be underestimated. It can change the course of your day, and your life. The desire to express ourselves, create and invent possibilities for our lives, can all be gathered onto an inspiration board.

Being inspired can empower us and get us back on track with focus and determination. Visualizing our goals, or pinning something, even if it is quirky and simply creates excitement in us, can not only bring us visual joy, but perhaps even the very potent feeling of fulfillment. Visionaries have images in their head of what direction they are aiming for and for who they want to be. It is the goals that one sets to get there, through inspiration, that keeps oneself motivated to follow and turn those vision into reality. Obstacles come, and obstacles go. But when you have inspiration behind you, motivation is moving you forward.

I have had a visual board for years. It is always changing and evolving, as I am. It becomes a visual collage of all sorts of clippings from Fashion and Interior/Shelter magazines, misc. cards and energizing quotes (my latest found and boldly printed quote? “Today is an opportunity”). Indeed. An inspiration board is just that. It is an opportunity to delight your senses and stir your soul. It does not have to be a board of goals. It can simply be a collection of things that pique your interest, or simply make you smile. One look at the colorful collage of mass inspired groupings and it’s like a zip of an espresso! What to pin on your inspiration board is whatever has the greatest impact to inspire you, daily. Stimulation! A surge of energy and excitement is sure to swell within you as you set your sights on your personal collection of stimulus for your mind.

Another type of inspiration boards are “Mood Boards”. A mood board is a type of poster design that may include text, images and samples of objects in a composition. Graphic designers, interior designers and fashion designers use mood boards to inspire a design concept. A perfect example of the importance of inspiration can also be found with the social bookmarking site, Pinterest. Sharing and organizing what inspires you from the world-wide web and “pinnning” them onto a virtual bulletin board. All yours, but for the world to see. Fantastic!! I suppose my blog is my own “Pinterest” site. It is indeed, what inspires me, and the ‘Ponderings and Inspirations’ that I simply have the urge to share with those that stumble (or plan) to read my musings. (Thank you for reading this now, and I hope it inspires you!)

If a picture is worth a thousand words, inspiration boards are worth millions. Desire to inspire yourself, daily. Pinned perfectly onto a board, or in a layered visual array, the point is, it is your inspired take on your very own life. Purpose and perspective. Found inspiration that changes your mood, and the direction of your life. Daily.

Be inspired! But remember, happiness starts where we are right now. Today. Be inspired, but be content where you are and with what you have today. Today is the opportunity.
Live life joyfully- and add inspiration!
