A Duo Of Inspiration That Led To My Blog: Eddie Ross & Jaithan Kochar

Jaithan Kochar & Eddie Ross, November 2011/Woodstock, IL

Exactly one year ago, November 16th and 17th, 2011, I was thrilled to have met the delightful and dynamic duo of Eddie Ross & Jaithan Kochar. They arrived to this quaint, Northern Illinois town of Woodstock for Eddie’s presentation, as part of the Woodstock Fine Arts Association’s, Creative Living Series at the historic Woodstock Opera House. Of note, Eddie was part of the same series and stood on the same stage that Martha Stewart once stood and presented. At the time Eddie’s presentation took place during the 49th year of a series of inspiring and acclaimed speakers. An iconic moment for our series, indeed.

Eddie Ross, an iconic Lifestyle Expert, presented “Celebrate In Style” which included an intimate evening event in which Ross captivated all who attended. As a board member of the Woodstock Fine Arts Association, I was delighted to have had an inside look at the charms of both of these men. Touring with them throughout Woodstock’s historic cobblestone square, we stopped into many stores and boutiques, including a local thrift store. I watched with amazement the magic of Eddie’s keen eye as he scanned the store, zoning in on something that struck his incredible palate of design. Alas, the quality and classic design of the items he chose were clear. Eddie Ross understands and seeks out the finer details in life. Innovation paired with great style. Seeing greater possibilities with a new, reuse or simply a “polishing” of something forgotten, Eddie’s mastery of quality, design and style is the perfect blend to inspire. And, inspire me, he did. As did Jaithan. (In 2008 Eddie Ross and partner Jaithan Kochar, a graduate of Stanford University and the Rhode Island School of Design, co-founded a lifestyle company. From there, the rest is history in style).

Indeed, it is perhaps the discerning and discriminating eye that Eddie Ross possesses towards appreciating quality and repurposing items that have been abandoned or “tarnished”. Brining new life to objects of craftsmanship, high design and style are only a few of the gifts that Eddie gifts us all.

The description of this event that took place on November 17th, 2011, verifies the significance of Eddie Ross and his impact of style…

Lifestyle expert and former Martha Stewart Living Senior Style Editor Eddie Ross is well-known for inspiring readers with clever decorating and entertaining ideas, combing the country’s flea markets and giving new life to old things. With Columns in Woman’s Day and Southern Living magazines, together with a popular blog at eddieross.com, Ross brings a unique combination of beauty and awareness to clients, including Lowe’s, Sears, Kmart and Carleton V. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and former Associate Design Director of Food Network, Ross will share ideas and demonstrations for creating stylish table settings, dazzling centerpieces and artful presentations for holiday fare.”

And, it was certainly inspirational. Memorable, indeed. It is said that there are those that you meet in life that impact and change the course of your thoughts and the direction of your life. Both Eddie and Jaithan were an impact on my life. Captivating with their sincere charm and warm smiles of delightful personalities, they were memorable. And inspiring. Below, a photograph of my husband and I, with Eddie and Jaithan, that will always commemorate a beginning of sharing my own “Ponderings and Inspirations”…

This duo of enterprising, stimulating energy and distinctive individual skills made an impact on me that inspired me to begin thoughts of creating a blog of my own in 2012. I held to the inspirations gained from both Eddie and Jaithan, compelled to forge a voice of my own personal ponderings and inspirations of living a beautiful life

Thank you Eddie Ross and Jaithan Kochar. Your impact and inspiration is long-lasting, indeed.
