Chicago. Fashionable windows of Chicago in February. Although inspiration is found wherever you are, departing the familiar always allows for excitement of what awaits before one. A city does that. A city is that. A city offers and element of surprise that seems to beckon our senses. I never tire of this journey. Solo city bound train rides to the great city of Chicago offer me a personal retreat. A haven in which I disappear into the great mass of city life. Energetic and frenetic. Sounds and lights and different directions each individual is taking. Life’s diversity. Once off the tracks, I again immersed myself within the city streets of Chicago. On a day in which the temperature reached a high of 56 degrees with warming sunshine filtering through the buildings that towered over the city streets, I embarked. Early Spring fever ahead. Crowds filled the city streets earlier than usual on a Saturday morning. City dwellers and occasional tourists out and about on this unexpected warm weather delight. Inspiration, onward from behind the lens onto the city woven around the Chicago River and surround by Lake Michigan. Camera on. Camera Ready…

My love of the reflection paired with fashionable form endures. Part of the visual. Part of the appeal. Changing fashionable statements against architectural structure and form. Timeless visuals within a city scape. One of my favorite reflections? Offered from the windows of Ralph Lauren, Michigan Avenue…

And so I walked onward, behind the lens. In hopes to capture a sense of the season. Capturing the moment in a world that changes constantly. Classics, trends and fashionable statements, of course. Fashion’s change and Spring’s pending arrival onto the world of fashion’s windows in Chicago….

Of course, a nod to one of my enduring favorite windows of Chicago….Michigan Avenues’ Max Mara. One mere compilation of images is simply not enough. The elegance of simplicity and statement Max Mara continues to visually offer in distinctive appeal endures to inspire my lens. Complete with a slow moving boat, that presented wedge heeled espadrilles, was certain to delight those that passed by. With windows in close proximity to Lake Michigan, my thoughts certainly drifted to warmer days ahead. Nautical inspirations, onward. Of course, having grown up on Long Island, the iconic seagull and water motifs did certainly stir my senses. Isn’t that what the art of fashion merchandising can do to us? An art form, indeed….

Of course, fashion from the windows forecasted and in between of dressing that relied on denim and pops of color. Denim, that tried and true staple that is ageless, will always offer to us a comfortable and classic style. Tried and true. Personal style in design, indeed. As David Bowie iconically named a song “Blue Jean” (a personal fave) and as Neil Diamond has proclaimed “Forever In Blue Jeans”, I, too, have a forever love for the denim hue of blue. Classics, onward…

Consider the fashionable windows that surround you. In mere appreciation of the visuals set before us, the artistry and the fashionable appeal, do I move forward. Changing monthly. Changing seasonally. The visuals behind the large and expansive panes of glass continue to inspire me. Continue to beckon me. Continue to become a focus through my lens. From behind the lens…

Onward,

Kristin
